…Taste of Tuawhiti

Three-course dinner  | Matched wines
Tuesday 20th May 5.30pm  | $175pp

A little bit of mystery, a lot of great food. Taste of Tuawhiti is a unique progressive dinner across three of Auckland’s best restaurants: kingi, Café Hanoi, and Ghost Street, all tucked into Tuawhiti Lane at Britomart.

Expect fresh sustainably sourced seafood at kingi, with dishes like kingfish crudo with grapefruit, caper and bay leaf or pan-seared snapper with tomato crayfish bisque, fregola and fennel.

At Café Hanoi, modern Vietnamese flavours take centre stage with dishes like ginger galangal chicken with pickled vegetables and green papaya salad with shrimp.

And at Ghost Street, bold Beijing-inspired cooking shines in plates like honey glazed cha shao pork and steamed vegetables with aromatic fried rice.

Where you start is a surprise. Arrive at The Hotel Britomart lobby, grab a glass of bubbles, and find out where your first course will be served. From there, you’ll move between restaurants, swapping places with other guests as you experience a curated three-course meal, with each course and wine match served in a different venue.

Restaurant 1 — Café Hanoi

Café Hanoi is a modern Vietnamese restaurant housed within a heritage warehouse space in Britomart, the city’s oldest commercial district.

The restaurant reflects our passion and respect for Vietnamese food and culture. Our menu offers authentic Hanoian street food that has made the city world famous, and other more modern dishes that pair traditional Northern Vietnamese cooking techniques with the best of New Zealand produce.

Restaurant 2 — kingi

kingi focuses on fresh, locally sourced food prepared in thoughtful, innovative and approachable ways, with a particular focus on New Zealand’s outstanding seafood. As committed advocates for independent local fishermen and women, the culinary team aim to take guests on a journey through New Zealand’s oceans, dunes, river mouths and reefs, complimented by beautiful seasonal produce and wild-caught game.

Restaurant 3 — Ghost Street

Tucked beneath Café Hanoi in the heart of Britomart, Ghost Street is a hidden gem serving bold and vibrant Chinese cuisine since early 2021. Inspired by the rich culinary diversity across China’s many regions, our menu brings together a curated selection of dishes that celebrate tradition, flavour, and the joy of sharing.
