A little bit of mystery, a lot of great food. Taste of Tuawhiti is a progressive dinner across three of Auckland’s best restaurants: kingi, Café Hanoi, and Ghost Street, all tucked into Tuawhiti Lane in the Britomart neighbourhood.
Where you start is a surprise. Arrive at The Hotel Britomart Lobby Lounge, enjoy a glass of bubbles, and find out where your first course will be served. From there, you’ll move between restaurants, swapping places with other guests as you experience a curated three-course meal, with each course and wine match served in a different venue.
Expect fresh sustainably sourced produce at kingi, with dishes like line-caught snapper with almond sauce, smoked eel gribiche, grape. At Café Hanoi, modern Vietnamese flavours take centre stage with dishes like chargrilled lime leaf chicken thighs with charred cos, pickled courgette, green herb sauce, and crushed peanuts. And at Ghost Street, bold Beijing-inspired cooking shines in plates like the sizzling Xinjiang lamb ribs with watercress, red onion, cumin, fennel, and chilli oil
It’s a journey through some of the city’s top kitchens with wine pairings, good company, and a little spontaneity thrown in.
This month, we’re celebrating one of our our favourite cocktails with a menu of specialty margaritas with an Aotearoa twist. While we love the zesty lime kick of a classic marg, we’ve also discovered our favourite salt-rimmed drink works brilliantly when blended with the sharpness of feijoa or kiwifruit. Awaken your tastebuds in the laneway all March.
Taste of kingi is a four-course tasting journey featuring the chef’s selection of the best of kingi, showcasing the best seasonal produce from New Zealand’s oceans, rivers, and land. Each dish takes you through the season’s flavours, with the option to add on paired wines for a memorable dining experience.
